Welcome to championship Sunday at the 2026 SEC Baseball Tournament.
No. 12 Arkansas is set to faceoff against No. 4 Georgia for the SEC championship on what’s expected to be another storm-filled day. First-pitch is still scheduled for 1 p.m. in Hoover, Ala. but inclement weather could potentially change that. No matter, though, there’ll be a champion crowned by the end of Sunday.
It could be the Bulldogs, who already have the regular season title and looking for their first-ever tournament championship. Or it could be the Razorbacks, a team playing its their destiny to win the whole tournament for the second time in program history (2021).
And if previous games are any indication, Sunday’s final should be a good one. Here’s everything to know about the game.
The Opponent: Georgia
Georgia looks like a legit Omaha-level team in 2026, mostly because this lineup is just rude. Through 57 games, the Bulldogs are 45-12, hitting .325 with a massive 1.054 OPS and 148 homers, so there really isn’t an easy pocket to pitch through.
Daniel Jackson is the headliner: a catcher/outfielder type with a .392 average, 27 homers, 78 RBI and 25 steals, which is basically video-game stuff. He also won SEC Player of the Year, while Wes Johnson took SEC Coach of the Year.
The supporting cast is no joke either. Tre Phelps, Rylan Lujo, Kolby Branch, Michael O’Shaughnessy and Brennan Hudson all bring real damage, and Georgia can beat teams with walks, power or pressure on the bases.
The pitching has been solid enough, holding opponents to a .243 average with 583 strikeouts, but the identity is clear: this team wants to slug first and ask questions later.
The last time Arkansas and Georgia met on the diamond led to a final score that is more often seen in football games, not baseball.
Georgia turned the weekend series finale at Baum-Walker Stadium into a full-on slugfest, beating Arkansas 26-14 behind 21 hits and a ridiculous nine home runs.
The Bulldogs actually trailed 6-1 after two innings, but they answered with six runs in the third and kept piling on from there. Jackson was the star, going 4-for-6 with three homers, five runs and six RBI, tying a Georgia single-game record for home runs. O’Shaughnessy was just as dangerous, driving in eight runs and homering twice, including a grand slam during Georgia’s 11-run ninth inning.
Ryan Wynn and Hudson also went deep twice as Georgia blew the game open late.

Stormy weather seems to be the theme of the week in Hoover. According to the National Weather Service, Sunday is expected to see more rain in the area.
