Update: Arkansas-Texas’ SEC Tournament Quarterfinal game has been postponed to start no earlier than 4 p.m.

Arkansas gets another chance to strike a little more feat into its potential postseason opponents in Friday’s SEC Baseball Tournament quarterfinal game.

Fresh off an 8-4 win over Tennessee, the No. 12 Razorbacks turn around to face No. 5 Texas, one of the most complete teams in the country and a serious national seed contender.

The Hogs haven’t play the Longhorns this season and as coach Dave Van Horn pointed out Wednesday, the Razorbacks have had success against first-time opponents in the tournament.

“I guess the good thing about what’s going on is we got to play Tennessee today, and we hadn’t played them all year,” Van Horn. “We get to play Texas, and we haven’t played them all year.

“So far, this has been good — except for the injury to one of my players — to get to see some different teams in our league.”

Now, with weather again looming over the SEC Tournament and a spot deeper in Saturday’s semifinals on the line, Arkansas will try to turn another high-profile matchup into a statement win.

The Opponent: Texas

Texas shows up in Hoover looking every bit like a national seed, and the numbers back it up. As of May 21, the Longhorns sit top‑6 nationally in RPI, DSR and strength of schedule, and they’ve been a consensus top‑5 team across the major polls for weeks. They’ve handled a heavy slate, too. Among teams with at least 20 Quad 1 games, only Georgia Tech has a better winning percentage. Texas is sitting at .769 overall with one of the best run differentials in the country at plus‑3.7.

The profile is balanced. On the mound, Texas is top‑5 nationally in FIP and WHIP and sits 16th in ERA. At the plate, the Longhorns carry a .929 OPS, which puts them inside the national top‑20. They defend it well, too, with a .980 fielding percentage that ranks 20th.

And the individual accolades match the team success. Five Longhorns earned SEC postseason honors, headlined by Anthony Pack Jr. as SEC Freshman of the Year and Aiden Robbins as SEC Newcomer of the Year. Pack Jr. also made the All‑SEC Second Team and the All‑Freshman Team, while Robbins, Dylan Volantis and Sam Cozart landed on the All‑SEC First Team. Catcher Carson Tinney joined Pack Jr. on the second team.

It’s a deep, experienced roster with star power and numbers that hold up under any microscope. Texas looks like a team built for a long postseason run.
