Arkansas lands Tennessee transfer Manny Marin in portal
Former Tennessee infielder Manny Marin picks Arkansas as his new home for the 2027 season.
Marin’sArkansas isn’t done working the transfer portal just yet.
The Razorbacks landed a commitment Tuesday from former Tennessee infielder Manny Marin, giving Dave Van Horn’s team its 13th portal addition heading into the 2027 season.
Marin is a Florida native who chose Tennessee over Clemson and Miami out of Westminster Christian School in Miami.
He arrives in Fayetteville with two full seasons of SEC experience under his belt and a track record of producing in big games.
The deadline to enter the transfer portal was Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. EDT, so this one came right down to the wire.
Marin brings SEC-tested pop to Fayetteville
As a sophomore with the Volunteers, Marin hit .291 with a .485 slugging percentage across 55 games.
He posted 57 hits in 196 at-bats with nine doubles, one triple and nine home runs while driving in 43 runs.
He also chipped in five stolen bases and earned a spot on the 2025 NCAA Knoxville Regional All-Tournament Team at third base after a standout performance in the Vols’ regional run.
Marin’s versatility is a big part of what makes him attractive to Van Horn.
He’s capable of playing both third base and shortstop, and that kind of positional flexibility is something the Hogs have valued in their infielders throughout this portal cycle.
‘s ranked as the No. 115 overall player in the transfer portal by 64Analytics.
He’s done it against Arkansas before
It’s worth noting that Marin’s done some damage against the Hogs already. In six career games versus Arkansas over the past two seasons, he totaled five hits and two RBIs.
He’s not someone the Razorbacks are taking a flier on, they know exactly what they’re getting.
Marin is also draft eligible for the upcoming MLB Draft, though he isn’t expected to be selected high enough to make signing worthwhile.
That makes his commitment to Arkansas a straight forward situation heading into the fall.
He’s a draft-eligible sophomore, born April 22, 2005, who’s majoring in Information Sciences and is the son of Jorge and Gabriela Marin. His brother Michael played college baseball at Hillsboro Community College.
Marin fourth infielder added from portal
With Marin on board, the Hogs now have four infielders committed from the transfer portal this cycle.
He joins shortstop Ben Cleary from Santa Clara, third baseman Wills Maginnis from Georgia State and third baseman Dawson Bryce from Charlotte.
It’s also worth noting that Marin isn’t the only former Vol who’ll be suiting up for Arkansas in 2027.
Right-handed pitcher Brayden Krenzel made the same move earlier this cycle, making Marin the second Tennessee transfer the Hogs have snagged in this portal window.
If Bryce doesn’t stick around — and there’s some expectation that he may not — Marin gives Van Horn a solid fallback at the hot corner with real SEC pedigree.
The Razorbacks are clearly building depth at the infield positions as they finalize their roster for next season.
Key takeaways
- Manny Marin becomes Arkansas baseball’s 13th transfer portal commitment of the cycle, giving the Razorbacks a versatile middle infielder with two seasons of SEC experience at Tennessee.
- Marin hit .291 with nine home runs and 43 RBIs as a sophomore for the Vols in 2026 and earned All-Tournament honors in the 2025 Knoxville Regional, so he’s proven himself at this level.
- He’s the fourth infielder the Hogs have added from the portal this cycle and is the second former Tennessee player — joining pitcher Brayden Krenzel — committed to Arkansas for 2027.
