Mother Nature has been just as impactful to the 2026 SEC Baseball Tournament as the players throwing, catching and hitting baseballs.

Nearly every day of the tournament has featured a weather delay and Saturday may have the most time spent in a weather delay so far.

No. 12 Arkansas spent two hours and 15 minutes in the locker room waiting to restart the bottom of the fourth inning. That came after weather delays in Saturday’s first semifinal game pushed back the start of the Razorbacks’ game against No. 6 Auburn.

In fact, the Razorbacks spent just as much time in a weather delay as it did actually playing the game. Their semifinal game officially lasted 2-hours, 20-minutes. Considering what time the game did end, not many people were complaining about that.

How teams spent their time during a weather delay can have a major impact on the game. Delays can shift momentum or allow a struggling team to reset and restart. It worked for Georgia, who scored most of its runs after a weather delay against Florida.

The impact wasn’t a drastic for Arkansas and Auburn, but what the Razorbacks did during that downtime worked. They scored both of their runs after the delay and Auburn recorded just four hits after it.

So, what did the Razorbacks do during that long weather delay to stay loose? Celebrate.

Arkansas players watched from the locker room as the Razorbacks’ softball team defeated Duke 10-2, advancing to the program’s first-ever Women’s College World Series.

“We got to watch the softball team make their way to Oklahoma City, and that was fun,” Ryder Helfrick said. “Being able to be there for that was fun, too.”

A video of the Arkansas team watching the final out be recorded to send the Razorbacks to Oklahoma City was posted on social media showing the baseball team cheering for their fellow Razorbacks. It’s a great moment and did help pass the time.

“As far as passing time, yeah, it helped,” Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn said late Saturday. “For the first hour, it was pretty laid back. We had a little bit of food brought in, then we finally got the game on. We had four TVs in there, so guys were sitting all over the place.”

Van Horn can relate better than most how Arkansas softball coach Courtney Deifel felt Saturday after winning her first NCAA Super Regional.

“I know the misery of losing a super regional, and it’s happened to them a few times,” Van Horn said. “I was just super happy for her. We’re happy for her family, all the coaches and, obviously, all the young ladies.

“I’m just happy that they got over the hump, that she can move on from that and enjoy it. Enjoy every minute of the World Series. You might enjoy it so much, you might win it.”

It’s already a special weekend for Arkansas and it could be a lot more special Sunday if the Razorbacks win the 2026 SEC Baseball Tournament championship.
