QUINCY, Fla. — The 2026 recruiting class of the Arkansas Razorbacks took another hit Monday when 6-foot-1, 210-pound safety and linebacker Daylen Green announced he was flipping his commitment from Arkansas to Florida State.

The Gadsden County (Fla.) prospect had been committed to the Razorbacks since June 9 but made a short trip to Tallahassee over the weekend before deciding to change course. The move continues a string of recruiting departures for Arkansas during a time of transition within the football program.

According to 247Sports, Green’s departure drops Arkansas’s 2026 verbal commitment list to 13, down from a high of 27 earlier in the year. The Razorbacks now have 17 total de-commitments for the cycle, placing them 78th nationally and 16th among SEC programs.

Green becomes one of several recent recruits to reverse course from the Razorbacks, a pattern that has coincided with uncertainty surrounding the head coaching position.

Green’s flip follows Florida State visit

Green’s decision came soon after an official visit to Florida State. Though he had reaffirmed his pledge to Arkansas earlier this fall, the trip to Tallahassee proved decisive. According to 247Sports, Green “had been committed to the Hogs since June 9 but made a short trip to Tallahassee to see the Noles last weekend.”

The Seminoles’ staff has targeted several defensive prospects with positional flexibility for the 2026 class, and Green’s athletic profile fits that emphasis. His combination of size and speed allows him to line up as a hybrid safety or weakside linebacker, depending on scheme.

Florida State’s recent push in recruiting has reflected its momentum on the field. The Seminoles remain a consistent presence in the Top 10 of national recruiting rankings and have landed several high-profile flips in recent months.

Impact on Arkansas recruiting outlook

For Arkansas, the loss adds to an already difficult cycle. The Razorbacks have seen multiple defensive commitments de-commit in recent weeks, leaving new leadership with a rebuilding challenge. Arkansas’s class ranking has slid as the program awaits its next head coach, expected to be named later in November.

Recruiting experts note that coaching changes almost always trigger roster and commitment volatility. Once a new staff is in place, Arkansas could begin to regain traction through renewed relationships and visits leading into the December signing period.

Green’s potential at Florida State

Green’s production at Gadsden County High School made him a sought-after recruit throughout the Southeast. At 6-1 and 210 pounds, he plays with downhill physicality and displays good coverage instincts against the pass. His ability to fill multiple roles gives Florida State flexibility on defense.

With his commitment now solidly in Tallahassee, Green strengthens an already deep defensive class for Florida State while Arkansas looks to regroup for 2026 and beyond.

Key takeaways

  • Daylen Green flipped his commitment from Arkansas to Florida State, leaving the Razorbacks with 13 pledges in the 2026 class.

  • Arkansas’s 2026 recruiting class has 17 de-commitments and currently ranks 78th nationally, 16th in the SEC.

  • Green provides Florida State with a versatile defensive addition capable of playing both safety and linebacker.
