Arkansas basketball adds four-star center Ourigou
A New York-based Overtime Elite big man committed to Arkansas after a standout summer on the Nike EYBL circuit.
Arkansas added more size up front on Tuesday, landing a commitment from four-star center Caleb Ourigou.
The Overtime Elite big man plays for the NY Rens on the Nike EYBL circuit and put together one of the more productive summers in the country before choosing the Hogs.
Ourigou’s numbers back up the buzz.
He’s averaging 12.3 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocks a game through 11 EYBL outings this summer while shooting 63.7 percent from the floor.
During the regular Overtime Elite season he posted 6.2 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks across 17 games while hitting 57.3 percent of his shots.
Rivals national analyst Jamie Shaw watched Ourigou up close at the NBPA Top 100 Camp and came away impressed with his physicality, saying the 6-foot-11 big man “rebounded with two hands, and he dunked at the rim.”
Shaw also noted that Ourigou “drew fouls with his strength, and his motor put pressure on the opposing bigs” while calling him a meat-and-potatoes type of player, per On3.
Arkansas beat out three other finalists
That kind of production pulled in a long list of high-major programs including Auburn, Florida, Illinois, Miami, Michigan, Missouri, Tennessee and Virginia.
Ourigou trimmed his list down to four schools before settling on the Hogs over BYU, UConn and Kentucky.
The recruitment picked up serious steam after Arkansas extended an offer earlier this summer.
A follow-up visit to Fayetteville reportedly sealed things and gave John Calipari’s staff separation from the other finalists heading into a decision.
Ourigou also jumped significantly in the rankings during this stretch, climbing from No. 90 overall to No. 55 in the latest 247Sports update for the 2027 class, a 35-spot rise.
247Sports recruiting insider Dushawn London called him a complete force in the paint with a strong motor and an aggressive rebounding streak.
Reclass decision looms after Peach Jam
Arkansas still doesn’t know if Ourigou will join the roster this fall.
He’s weighing a re-classification to the 2026 class and that decision is expected once Peach Jam wraps up this week. Either way, the Razorbacks’ recruiting class held onto its No. 1 national ranking with his pledge attached.
Calipari’s staff has already stacked the backcourt with names like Jordan Smith Jr. and Billy Richmond, so adding a physical presence like Ourigou rounds out a roster that was still searching for size before Tuesday.
Arkansas got its man. Now the wait is just about which season he actually shows up in.
