FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Lauren Van Rhein picked a pretty handy time to find the net.
The freshman’s header in the 52nd minute pulled Arkansas even on Thursday night at Razorback Field.
It went in the books as Arkansas soccer ties Georgia 2-2, and that’s not a bad outcome when you’re chasing the game.
Why? Because the Razorbacks still haven’t lost to an SEC visitor in Fayetteville since 2020.
That home run now sits at 28 matches. The Hogs are 25-0-3 in that stretch.
Zoe Susi set up the tying goal with a cross. It was her first assist of the year and her ninth point, which already leads the team.
Arkansas moves to 1-1-1 in league play. Georgia’s now 3-3-4 overall and 0-1-2 in the SEC.
How the goals came
Kyndal Ewertz got the scoring started in the 39th minute.
The junior rose up and headed home a lofted ball from senior Sabrina Jones.
Jones picked up her second assist of the season on the play.
The lead didn’t hold up for long, though. Georgia scored twice in a four-minute span around halftime.
Mona Childs found the net in the 43rd minute. Kieren Jeter followed in the 47th to put the Bulldogs in front.
Five minutes later, Van Rhein answered with her head.
Neither Ewertz nor Van Rhein had scored before Thursday. They’re now the 11th and 12th different players to score for the Hogs this year, so the goal list keeps getting longer.
Hogs control the numbers
Arkansas doubled up Georgia in shots, 18-9.
The Razorbacks put four shots on target that goalkeeper Jordan Brown had to stop.
On the other end, Keegan Smith made two saves for Arkansas in the first half.
The Hogs also earned 16 corner kicks. That’s their most in a single match since 2022.
It wasn’t all clean, though. Arkansas was shown three cautions, a new season high.
Next up is Auburn. The Razorbacks host the Tigers on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m.
Auburn comes in at 6-1-3 overall and 2-1-0 in the SEC after beating Missouri 2-0 on Thursday night.
