Razorbacks face four Top 10 teams after brutal Utah loss

Sunday brought more bad news for Arkansas fans who already had a rough weekend.

A 42-10 road loss to Utah stung enough on its own. Then the latest AP Top 25 poll came out and made the rest of the season look a whole lot harder.

Texas jumped all the way to No. 1 after knocking off Ohio State, and Ohio State slid outside the top five for the first time since 2024.

Georgia stayed put at No. 2 even after a 70-20 win over Western Kentucky. That’s the same Georgia team that shows up in Fayetteville this Saturday morning.

The Bulldogs aren’t walking into a soft matchup either way. They’re just the first name on a long list of ranked teams still waiting for the Razorbacks.

Four of the Hogs’ remaining games come against teams sitting in this week’s Top 10. Georgia checks in at No. 2. LSU sits at No. 7. Texas A&M comes in at No. 9.

And Texas, the new top team in the country, comes in the next-to-last-game of the season in November.

LSU will follow that so make it two teams in the Top 10 now to wrap up the season.

Two more games land against ranked squads outside the top ten, with Tennessee at No. 15 and Missouri at No. 20.

That’s six ranked opponents left on Arkansas’ calendar, and four of them belong to the toughest group in the sport right now.

Georgia arrives with plenty of firepower

Georgia still hasn’t lined up against a Power Four foe this season, which explains part of why the Bulldogs have rolled through their first two games.

They put up well over 100 points more than Tennessee State and Western Kentucky managed between them. The Razorbacks get that offense next, and it won’t be an easy afternoon inside Razorback Stadium.

The Hogs also get a look at a shaken-up Big Ten this fall since three of their conference peers stayed near the top after Saturday’s chaos.

Oregon dropped all the way to No. 21 after falling 39-31 on the road to Oklahoma State. Michigan popped back into the rankings at No. 19 after beating No. 11 Oklahoma, and Oklahoma tumbled to No. 24 in the process.

None of that changes anything on the schedule ahead, but it shows just how wild the whole sport looks right now.

Ohio State landed at No. 6 despite the loss, still ahead of LSU and several other SEC teams.

That’s a reminder of how deep the league’s strength runs this season, and Arkansas sits right in the middle of that gauntlet.

What comes after Georgia

Tulsa gives the Razorbacks a breather the following week before the SEC grind picks right back up.

A trip to Texas A&M comes next, followed by a home date with Tennessee and then a road trip to Vanderbilt.

After a bye week, the Hogs host Missouri before finishing with Auburn, South Carolina, a trip to Texas and LSU to close things out.

Ryan Silverfield’s group will need to find answers fast.

The Utah loss already raised questions about the offense and the defense alike, and now there’s no room to hide with this much ranked competition still on the board.

Each of Arkansas’ next several Saturdays could shape how this season gets remembered.
