Alexander Peck won’t be back in Fayetteville next season.
The rising sophomore first baseman from Franklin, Tenn., put his name in the transfer portal on Tuesday, according to a source, marking the ninth departure from the Arkansas roster this offseason.
Tuesday is also the last day players can enter the portal, so the clock is officially done ticking on this year’s cycle.
Peck saw action in 16 games for the Razorbacks this past season. In 25 at-bats, he collected three hits and three RBI while drawing three walks and striking out seven times.
His most memorable moment in a Hogs uniform came on May 8 against eventual national champion Oklahoma.
He went deep in the bottom of the fifth inning of a 12-2 Arkansas win at Baum-Walker Stadium, giving him his first collegiate home run.
“My first AB, I was a little nervous, but after that, I got my feet under me and my mindset just completely changed,” Peck said following that game. “I was just thinking nobody could beat me. And when I hit that home run, I was floating around the bases. There’s no better feeling.”
That one swing was the kind of moment that makes you wonder what could’ve been had he stayed in the program longer.
Nine Razorbacks have now entered portal
Peck is now the ninth player to leave the Arkansas baseball roster this offseason through the transfer portal.
The full list of departures includes left-handed pitchers Joey Lorenzini and Jacob Imoto, infielders Cayden Mitchell, Tyler Holland and Carson Brumbaugh — who also has eligibility as a pitcher — outfield/infield hybrid Landon Schaefer, right-handed pitcher Grant Wren, catcher Carson Willis and now Peck.
It’s a large amount of roster turnover heading into what shapes up as a pivotal offseason for Dave Van Horn’s team.
