Four Razorbacks hear their names called as draft closes Sunday
The Hogs’ pitching staff spread across four MLB organizations as the draft’s final rounds played out.
Arkansas baseball fans stayed glued to their phones late Sunday as the final rounds of the 2026 MLB Draft brought pick after pick for the Razorbacks.
Four Hogs pitchers found new homes as the draft wound toward its close, giving the Hogs one of their deepest hauls in program history.
Things got pretty busy late Sunday afternoon as the picks were coming in fast and furious. A late decision was made at allHogs to just put a roundup of them all into one later story.
The run started when the Cleveland Guardians used the 603rd overall pick, their last of the draft, on left-hander Parker Coil in the 20th round.
The Oklahoma native had already been drafted once before by Milwaukee last year but turned that offer down to return for another season with the Razorbacks.
It worked out.
Coil posted a 3.99 ERA and racked up 58 strikeouts in 47.1 innings across 27 appearances this year.
A few picks earlier, the New York Mets doubled down on Arkansas pitching by selecting Cooper Dossett in the 17th round with pick No. 510.
Dossett becomes the third Razorback the Mets have taken this year, following earlier picks Carson Wiggins and Kuhio Aloy.
He worked 17 innings across 16 appearances this season and finished with a 6.88 ERA.
Angels and Giants get in on action too
Right-hander Tate McGuire landed with the Los Angeles Angels in the 14th round at No. 409 overall.
McGuire, who calls Liberty, Missouri, home, made 21 appearances for the Hogs this season with eight starts, going 1-1 with a 4.78 ERA and 41 strikeouts over 49 innings.
Earlier in the day the San Francisco Giants had already taken Colin Fisher off Arkansas’ roster in the 13th round at pick No. 388.
Fisher battled through an uneven junior year, finishing 4-7 with a 5.59 ERA, but he flashed his ceiling with a complete-game one-hitter against Xavier that included 11 strikeouts and zero walks.
Between Fisher, McGuire, Dossett and Coil, the Razorbacks now have arms scattered from coast to coast across four different big league systems.
Dave Van Horn’s pitching staff has become a steady pipeline to pro ball, and Sunday’s late flurry only added to that reputation.
