FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — As Arkansas reshuffles its 2026 recruiting priorities, wide receivers coach Ronnie Fouch has turned his attention to a dynamic Louisiana prospect already pledged somewhere else.

The Razorbacks extended a scholarship offer to Trez Davis, a four-star wide receiver from West Monroe (La.), who has been committed to Tulane since June.

The offer adds intrigue to an increasingly fluid recruiting board as Arkansas navigates staff changes and works to stabilize its future depth at receiver.

Davis, listed at 6-foot, 170 pounds, confirmed the offer on social media Wednesday and told recruiting outlets he remains open to potential visits this fall.

His current commitment to the Green Wave hasn’t stopped Power Four programs from staying in contact, and Arkansas’ renewed interest signals a potential shift in how the Hogs approach the next recruiting cycle.

Louisiana star gains traction beyond Tulane

Davis has established himself as one of the most polished route-runners in Louisiana’s 2026 class.

He ranks No. 38 nationally among wide receivers and No. 10 overall in the state, according to 247Sports.

The Composite rankings list him slightly lower at No. 49 among wideouts, but still a consensus four-star.

As a junior, Davis hauled in 53 receptions for 998 yards and eight touchdowns.

His explosiveness also translates to track and field, where he competes in the long jump and triple jump for West Monroe’s 5A program.

That two-sport background appeals to coaches like Fouch, who value speed and athletic versatility on the perimeter.

“I’m just staying focused and keeping options open,” Davis told Danny West at HawgSports, adding that a visit to Fayetteville could be arranged later this fall.

For now, the Razorbacks remain one of several Power Four programs testing Tulane’s ability to hold his commitment.

Arkansas receivers room facing transition

Fouch and Arkansas currently hold commitments from three receivers in the 2026 class in Blair Irvin and Dequane Prevo from Bentonville and Robert Haynes IV of Ridge Point High in Missouri City, Texas.

Haynes, however, has drawn attention recently after suggesting communication with the staff had gone quiet prior to Sam Pittman’s firing.

With uncertainty around future leadership, his status remains fluid, and adding another receiver like Davis could help solidify the position group.

Arkansas’ recruiting class currently ranks No. 67 nationally with 15 total commitments.

That’s just behind Tulane, which sits at No. 63 with 17 pledges under coach Jon Sumrall, a name that continues to appear frequently in Arkansas fans’ conversations about the Razorbacks’ long-term coaching outlook.

Fouch keeps recruiting efforts steady

While the Razorbacks await decisions at the top of the football program, assistants like Fouch have maintained stability in recruiting efforts.

The second-year receivers coach is credited with helping develop Andrew Armstrong into one of the SEC’s most consistent pass-catchers in 2024, and his reputation as a player’s coach has kept communication channels open with key prospects.

Fouch’s approach is steady, relationship-driven, and grounded in player development and has given Arkansas a competitive edge with receivers looking for continuity during a coaching transition.

Next steps in the process

Whether Davis ultimately visits Fayetteville could depend on the Razorbacks’ midseason trajectory and the staff’s future alignment.

If Arkansas lands a new head coach before the early signing period, re-engaging with current commitments and flipping prospects like Davis will become a top priority.

Meanwhile, the Razorbacks appear to have ended their pursuit of Copiah-Lincoln (Miss.) junior college lineman Jarmaine Mitchell, who had previously planned an official visit to campus this weekend.

That decision allows the program to redirect recruiting resources toward skill positions, where depth and speed remain primary needs.

As Arkansas reshapes its 2026 class, offers like the one to Davis suggest the Razorbacks are emphasizing explosiveness and athletic versatility on offense.

Whether that message resonates with recruits like Davis could determine how quickly Arkansas reestablishes itself as a destination for top-tier offensive talent.
