The Razorbacks will introduce Silverfield on Thursday at 1 p.m., but the early signals point toward continuity from his Memphis staff.
And that starts with Cramsey, who has been calling offenses for nearly two decades and has built an identity around balance and pace.
The Hogs would gain a coordinator with wide experience.
Cramsey, 50, has been an offensive coordinator for 17 seasons, including 12 years at the FBS level.
His career has taken him through New Hampshire, FIU, Montana State, Nevada, Sam Houston State, Marshall and then Memphis.
Arkansas would also get a coach with strong quarterback teaching experience.
Cramsey has coached quarterbacks for 18 years and has also worked with running backs and tight ends during his career.
The Razorbacks could use that background as they adjust to Silverfield’s system.
Cramsey played quarterback himself at New Hampshire from 1994 to 1997, giving him a long track record on the position he now develops.
The Hogs are transitioning into a new era, and bringing in a familiar voice for Silverfield could stabilize early steps.
Nothing is official, but the expectation carries weight as the staff is assembled.
Cramsey’s arrival would also give Arkansas an offensive direction, something every new head coach needs in Year 1.
Cramsey’s résumé brings needed stability
The Razorbacks would be adding a coordinator who has seen almost everything.
Cramsey’s Memphis tenure began in 2022, after offensive coordinator stops at Marshall (2018–21), Sam Houston State (2017), Nevada (2016), Montana State (2013–15), FIU (2012) and New Hampshire (2009–11).
The Hogs would benefit from the different styles Cramsey has coached.
His experience includes tempo systems, balanced attacks and heavy run packages depending on personnel. That background is part of what made him valuable to Silverfield at Memphis.
Arkansas saw firsthand the need for offensive structure during its coaching search.
Silverfield appears committed to building that foundation by keeping someone he trusts to install and manage the system.
The Razorbacks could immediately lean on Cramsey’s balanced approach.
Memphis finished sixth in the American Athletic Conference in total offense in the most recent season, averaging 420.7 yards per game and 6.2 yards per play.
The Hogs would also note that Memphis ranked third in scoring at 34.6 points per game. Their offense produced 186.1 rushing yards and 234.6 passing yards per game.
They tied for fifth in the league in rushing and placed eighth in passing, with a 140.5 passing efficiency rating.
Those numbers show why Silverfield values Cramsey. They also show what Arkansas could look like offensively moving forward.
Memphis production what Hogs might gain
The Hogs could be getting a coordinator who has already delivered big results for Silverfield.
With quarterback Seth Henigan leading the way, Memphis led the AAC in scoring in 2024 at 35.7 points per game.
Arkansas may also point to Memphis ranking third in total offense at 444.5 yards per game in that same season.
The offense averaged 270.5 passing yards per game and 174.1 rushing yards per game, showing the balance that defines Cramsey’s approach.
The Razorbacks would enter the Silverfield era needing reliability on offense.
Bringing someone who helped build top-tier numbers in the AAC fits that goal.
The Hogs have not finalized the hire, but the expectation continues to build. Silverfield’s first staff decisions will shape the program, and bringing Cramsey with him would mark a major step.
Arkansas fans may see this move as a way to speed up the offensive transition. A coach who already knows the system can help avoid common first-year issues.
The Razorbacks have a long offseason ahead, but Cramsey’s expected arrival gives them an offensive identity to develop.
