SEC Shorts Lane Train stalls in Oxford as Ole Miss hands LSU a loss

Ole Miss didn’t just beat Lane Kiffin in the latest SEC Shorts Lane Train sketch.

The Rebels climbed aboard and robbed the train.

The comedy series poked fun at Kiffin’s first trip back to Oxford as LSU’s coach. He built the Rebs into a winner and then left for Baton Rouge.

A conductor warns riders that hijackers are coming aboard. The crew asks them to hand over “all your valuables in top 10 rankings.”

Kiffin’s reply is short. “Ah, not again.”

He tries a guilt trip on his old players. It doesn’t work.

His last request is simple. “Just uh nothing to the face,” he says.

How the ride went off the rails

The trip starts with big plans. Oxford is supposed to be a quick Week 3 stop on the way to the College Football Playoff.

LSU riders paid $91 million for the ticket. The Tigers also had a 41-point win over Clemson in their pocket.

Then the first quarter happened.

A Morgan Freeman-style narrator says LSU had “the kind of confidence only a man who hadn’t seen the first quarter could have.”

Soon the train is stuck behind a 17-point deficit. The conductor says that’s normal for a top 10 road game.

Kiffin can’t believe it. He says the Rebs should still be shaken by a fake Sam Leavitt injury report he planted.

Kiffin blames the depth chart

His receiver numbers are low. He’s got nothing at tight end.

His partner in the cab isn’t sympathetic. He says Kiffin should’ve spent more of that $42 million NIL budget on backups.

The Razorbacks don’t help either. Arkansas shows up as an obstruction on the track.

LSU finally scores 17 straight points and ties the game.

“All right, we got a whole new ball game,” Kiffin says.

Then Trinidad Chambliss flips an underhand shovel pass under pressure for a first down.

“What is going on up there?” Kiffin asks.

No rest for the Lane Train

Ole Miss recovers a fumble on the final play. The Rebels are allowed to strut.

Kiffin wants to move on and focus on football. Riders instead find a book under their seats called “Lane Being Lane.”

He takes comfort in Mississippi State and Kentucky coming up next.

The narrator isn’t so sure. The light at the end of the tunnel might be “just another train coming from the other direction.”
