Kuhio Aloy, Wills Maginnis both go in 11th round of draft

The 11th round of Sunday’s MLB Draft brought a pair of moments for Arkansas baseball fans to track.

The New York Mets selected current Razorback Kuhio Aloy with the 330th overall pick and just four selections later Boston took Georgia State transfer and Arkansas commit Wills Maginnis at No. 334.

Both players now have real decisions ahead of them about their next steps.

Maginnis had been set to join the Hogs this fall as part of the program’s transfer haul. His path forward isn’t so clear now.

A pick that late still hands a player some leverage since turning pro right away or waiting another year with added college eligibility both remain live options for him.

Aloy meanwhile spent the past two seasons in Fayetteville after starting his college career at BYU.

He’s a native of Hawaii and the younger brother of Wehiwa Aloy who Arkansas saw go in the first round of last year’s draft.

That makes him the second Razorback the Mets have grabbed this year joining right-hander Carson Wiggins who New York took in the first round.

Aloy’s season took a late hit

Aloy put together strong numbers before a hamate bone injury slowed him down late in the year.

He slashed .293/.352/.486 across 181 at-bats with 53 hits nine home runs and 41 runs batted in over 49 games.

He started 159 of the 162 games he appeared in during his college career and picked up multiple All-American honors in 2025.

That injury history adds weight to whether he signs or heads back for another season to rebuild his stock.

The bonus pool rule at play

Both Aloy and Maginnis benefit from a rule that lets any player picked after the 10th round sign for up to $150,000 without hurting a team’s overall bonus pool number.

That flexibility often decides whether a late-round pick signs quickly or holds out hoping for a bigger opportunity down the road.

It’s a factor front offices lean on heavily once the draft moves past the early rounds.

Arkansas’s draft class keeps growing

Sunday’s picks pushed the Razorbacks to eight total players selected in this year’s draft.

That number could keep climbing as more news breaks on current players and incoming transfers.

For now neither Aloy nor Maginnis has made a final call and Hogs fans will have to wait to see who actually suits up in Fayetteville this fall compared to who reports to pro camp instead.

Key takeaways

  • The Mets picked current Razorback Kuhio Aloy at No. 330 while Boston took Arkansas transfer commit Wills Maginnis just four picks later at No. 334
  • Aloy hit .293 with nine home runs and 41 RBIs before a hamate bone injury slowed his final stretch of the season
  • Arkansas now has eight total draft picks and both Aloy and Maginnis can sign for up to $150,000 without affecting a team’s bonus pool
