Razorbacks host Volunteers to close regular season at Baum-Walker

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — No. 8 Arkansas (41-11, 18-9 SEC) is set to close out their 2025 regular season with a high-stakes series against No. 17 Tennessee (40-13, 15-12 SEC) at Baum-Walker Stadium.

With Arkansas sitting two games behind first-place Texas in the SEC standings, this series carries major implications for postseason seeding and program history.

A Historic Home Field and Dominant Record

Baum-Walker Stadium, celebrating its 30th season, has been a fortress for the Razorbacks.

Arkansas boasts a 726-246 (.747) all-time record at the venue and is 30-3 at home this season.

The Hogs have recorded at least 28 home wins in each of the last eight full seasons, underscoring their dominance in Fayetteville.

SEC Race and Consistent Excellence

Arkansas has already clinched its eighth consecutive 40-win season, the only SEC program to do so in each of the last eight full years-a feat matched nationally only by Southern Miss.

The Razorbacks’ 18-9 SEC record marks their eighth straight campaign with at least 18 conference wins, the longest such streak in the league since LSU’s run from 1996-2005.

With a series win, Arkansas can notch its sixth 20-win SEC season, four of which have come under head coach Dave Van Horn.

Series Schedule and Pitching Matchups

The series opens Thursday, May 15 at 7 p.m. on ESPN2, with Tom Hart, Chris Burke, and Kyle Peterson on the call.

Friday’s game airs on SEC Network+ at 6:30 p.m., and Saturday’s finale is at 2 p.m. on SEC Network.

Arkansas will send LHP Zach Root (6-3, 3.88 ERA) to the mound Thursday, while Tennessee counters with RHP Marcus Phillips (3-4, 3.55 ERA).

Razorbacks vs. Volunteers: Recent History

Arkansas holds a 42-28 all-time advantage over Tennessee, including a 22-10 mark in Fayetteville.

Under Dave Van Horn, the Hogs are 30-14 overall and 15-5 at home against the Vols.

Arkansas has not lost a weekend series to Tennessee since 2005 and is riding a five-game win streak in the matchup, one shy of the program record.

Home Run Chase and Offensive Firepower

The Razorbacks have launched 102 home runs in 52 games, ranking fifth nationally and third in program history.

Shortstop Wehiwa Aloy leads the team with 17 homers, tied for 10th most in a single Arkansas season.

With just eight more, the Hogs could set a new single-season record, surpassing the 109 hit in 2021.

Senior Night and Player Recognition

Friday night will honor six Razorback seniors: Carson Boles, Dylan Carter, Kendall Diggs, Logan Maxwell, Will McEntire, and Rocco Peppi.

Their leadership and contributions have been instrumental in maintaining Arkansas’ elite status in college baseball.

Looking Ahead

Both teams eye strong finishes before heading to the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala.

Arkansas, with its storied consistency and home field advantage, aims to make history yet again as the regular season concludes.

“We’re grateful for our seniors and the foundation they’ve helped build here. This weekend is about celebrating their legacy and pushing for another SEC milestone,” said coach Dave Van Horn.

As the Razorbacks and Volunteers clash in Fayetteville, fans can expect high stakes, emotional farewells, and a potential rewriting of the record books.
