Razorbacks capture fifth consecutive SEC Outdoor Track & Field title
Fifth straight SEC Outdoor title, powered by Anthony’s sprint dominance, strong team depth in Lexington for Hogs’ 24th title

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Arkansas’ men’s track and field team continued their dominance in the Southeastern Conference by clinching their fifth consecutive SEC Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
That’s now 24 titles for one of the premiere programs in the country. But this one may have been a little bit of a surprise to some.
The 2025 championship, held at Kentucky’s Shively Track & Field Stadium in Lexington, saw the No. 9 nationally ranked Razorbacks tally 98.5 points to edge out strong competition from No. 5 Georgia (87 points) and No. 12 Alabama (85 points).
Sophomore sprinter Jordan Anthony was the standout athlete of the meet, delivering a remarkable 21.5 points and earning the prestigious Commissioner’s Trophy as the high-point scorer.
Anthony set a new personal and Arkansas record in the 100 meters with a time of 9.95 seconds, surpassing his previous mark of 9.98.
This victory completed a rare feat, as he swept the SEC Indoor 60m and Outdoor 100m titles, joining an elite group of just six SEC sprinters to accomplish this double.
His combined time of 16.49 seconds for the two events matched the best ever, equaling Christian Coleman’s 2017 performance.
Anthony’s performance in the 200 meters was equally impressive, clocking a career-best 19.93 seconds, the second-fastest in Arkansas history behind Wallace Spearmon Jr.’s 19.89 in 2005.
This win placed Anthony among an exclusive list of SEC athletes who have won the Indoor 60m, Outdoor 100m, and 200m titles in the same year, alongside legends like Christian Coleman and Justin Gatlin.
“It means a lot to put my name up there with some of the best ever,” Anthony said later. “I just wanted to score as many points as I could for my team, and we got it done.”
The Razorbacks’ team depth was on full display throughout the meet, with 23 of their 30-man squad competing on the final day alone, contributing 78.5 points.
The middle-distance and distance runners contributed significantly, scoring 36 points. Davis Helmerich won the 1,500m in 3:52.01, while Ben Shearer overcame a fall during the 5,000m to secure a silver medal with a time of 13:50.19.
The team also earned valuable points in field events, with Scottie Vines and Joshua Blakely combining for 8.5 points in the high jump, and Henry Kiner adding four points in the triple jump.
“Our team showed incredible heart and depth,” coach Chris Bucknam said. “Every point mattered, and I’m proud of how our guys stepped up across all events.”
The Razorbacks’ 4x100m relay team, anchored by Anthony, earned a bronze medal with a time of 38.60 seconds, ranking sixth all-time at Arkansas.
With this latest SEC title secured, the Razorbacks now shift their focus to the upcoming NCAA Championships, aiming to build on their momentum and continue their legacy as one of college track and field’s premier programs.
