Bri Ellis makes Razorback history, named SEC Player of the Year

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas slugger Bri Ellis locked in her place among the program’s all-time greats by earning the SEC Player of the Year award.

She is only the second Razorback to do so, joining KB Sides (2022).

Ellis didn’t stop there. The Houston native also grabbed First Team All-SEC and SEC All-Defensive Team honors for the second straight season, capping one of the most dominant individual performances in NCAA softball history.

During conference play, Ellis tore up SEC pitching with a scorching .397 batting average.

She led the league with 11 home runs and 29 RBI, drew 27 walks, and powered to a jaw-dropping .983 slugging percentage.

Ellis anchored the infield with a flawless 1.000 fielding percentage. She recorded 124 putouts and seven assists without a single error in 307 chances continuing her streak of error-free SEC play over two seasons.

Three other Razorbacks also earned All-SEC recognition. Pitcher Robyn Herron, outfielder Reagan Johnson, and infielder Ella McDowell, each earned spots on the second team.

Robyn Herron, finished conference play with a 7-5 record and a 3.41 ERA across 76 innings, striking out 78 batters and holding opponents to a .223 batting average. 

Reagan Johnson  hit .381 in SEC play and led the team with 32 hits and a .490 on-base percentage. Johnson held it down in center field with 47 putouts, two assists, and a flawless 1.000 fielding percentage.

Freshman Ella McDowell put up a .366 average with 30 hits in SEC play and drove in 25 runs. She posted a .537 slugging percentage and a .435 OBP along with seven multi-RBI outings.
